Michigan is home to the world's largest deposits of native copper, which is copper found in its pure metallic form rather than bonded within an ore. These specimens are prized by collectors for their exceptional purity (up to 99.99%) and unique, rugged shapes formed over a billion years ago.

Float Copper: These are nuggets that were ripped from their native veins and "tumbled" by advancing glaciers during the last Ice Age. Found throughout the Upper Peninsula, float copper often has a weathered, dark green patina (malachite) due to thousands of years of burial.
